Dec 18 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1230 GMT on Tuesday.

* BAGHDAD - A car bomb explosion killed four people including one policeman and wounded seven others including two policemen in Nidhal street, in central Baghdad, police said.

* BAGHDAD - Gunmen killed an employee of the committee in charge of purging members of Saddam Hussein's Baath party from public life, and wounded two others, in an attack on their car in al-Qahira district of northern Baghdad, police said.

DAHUK PROVINCE - Hundreds of Turkish troops crossed into Kurdish territory in northern Iraq overnight and remained in a remote mountainous area, Iraqi officials said. A senior Turkish military official said their troops had engaged in limited clashes with rebels from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

BAGHDAD - Nine bodies were found in across Baghdad on Monday, police said.

BAGHDAD - A mortar round wounded one Iraqi soldier and two civilians in western Baghdad's Jamiaa district, police said.

BAQUBA - A suicide car bomber killed one policeman, one civilian and wounded 15 people including three policemen and three children, when it attacked a police checkpoint in western Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces captured a suspected Special Groups leader, a term used by the U.S. military to describe Shi'ite militiamen using Iranian weaponry, and detained 11 other suspects during operations in the town of Aziziya, southeast of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces detained seven gunmen during operations targeting al Qaeda networks in central and northern Iraq, the U.S. military said.

NUMANIYA - Gunmen killed a Mehdi Army leader and wounded three of his guards on Monday in the town of Numaniya, 120 km (72 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
