Cabinet approves 30 million baht to aid China and Myanmar

Spokesman for the Office of the Prime Minister Police Lieutenant General Vichianchote Sukchotirat stated that today's Cabinet meeting has approved a budget of 1 million USD, or approximately 30 million baht for aid relief efforts in Myanmar and recently earthquake hit China.

The Ministry of Public Health has received reports from refugees of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar concerning their health and disease outbreaks. The ministry has prepared to appropriate medical facilities and pharmaceuticals to remedy the situation, utilizing a budget of 128 million baht.

Thailand has decided to devote its aid to both nations in the spirit of being neighbors as well as being countries that have always shared good relations.

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej has made plans to leave for Myanmar tomorrow at 10 AM to speak with the nations leaders about receiving aid. During his visit he will also donate 100 satellite phones to assist in the nation's fractured communications.
