II. PREPAREDNESS MEASURES

A. NATIONAL

- The NDRRMC member agencies met early this morning to discuss the preparedness measures undertaken in anticipation of the expected landfall of Typhoon Juan in the mainland

- NDRRMC-OPCEN has been continuously disseminating NDRRMC Advisory on Typhoon "JUAN" (MEGI) to all regions through SMS, facsimile and NDRRMC website for further dissemination to their respective local disaster risk reduction and management councils from the provincial down to the municipal levels

- Press conferences on Typhoon "JUAN" (MEGI) was held at PAGASA on 15 and 16 October 2010

NATIONAL AGENCIES' PREPARATIONS

PIA

- Assist in the dissemination of weather advisories.

DSWD

- Prepositioned 18,147 family food packs worth PhP2,915,906.05, other food and nonfood items (NFIs) worth PhP121,980,854.25 and standby funds in the amount of PhP 2,827,456.23 in Regions I, II, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, NCR and CAR and at NROC/CO

- Also alerted its 576 Quick Response Teams (QRTs), 183 Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Teams and 3,073 volunteers in the said regions DOH

- Provided additional medicines to CHD-2 worth P91,777.50

- Activated all regional CHDs on Code White Alert for standby response and deployment if the need arises DPWH

- Continuously monitoring the status of national roads NGCP

- Activated its command centers at its head office, regional and district levels in preparation for the expected landfall/onslaught of TY "Juan"

- Enjoined its operations and maintenance personnel in Luzon and Visayas to take all necessary precautions to minimize the impact of the typhoon
