Training Description

The Course aims to:
- Introduce participants to the main features of conflict-ridden environments and engage them in a critical analysis of the health services available within them;
- Identify and discuss the main features and distortions of health services during protracted crises and recovery processes;
- Analyse and reflect upon the challenges faced by those producing and supplying health services in countries experiencing or recovering from a conflict;
- Introduce participants to recovery processes, to the main challenges they pose and to the opportunities they provide in correcting long-standing distortions and creating health systems that are more efficient and fair;
- Familiarize participants with the existing literature in this field and stimulate their interest in conducting further research.

Training Cost
1.100 Euro The fee includes reference material, lunch on class days and access to the Scuola Sant'Anna‘s facilities (library, computer rooms, etc.). A limited number of scholarships for participants coming from non OECD-countries are available.
Intended Audience
The Course is mainly intended for health professionals working in the field but is also open to other professionals working in (or preparing to join) development co-operation or humanitarian assistance programmes. Applicants must have a university degree in a health related field or the equivalent of 3 years of relevant working experience. They must have a sound working knowledge of English.
