Training Description
The Austrian Red Cross offers an induction training in water, sanitation and hygiene in the context of international disaster relief and development projects. The two day workshop aims at raising awareness for the prospects, challenges and risks in the WatSan sector. The participants will learn about various aspects of sustainable WatSan interventions. The workshop offers networking possibilities and shall encourage aid agencies to become new or more professional players in the WatSan sector.
What is included in the course fee?
Participation, accommodation and meals are covered due to funding by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Department (ECHO). Participants need to take care of travel cost.

Intended Audience
Target participants are employees and volunteers of relief and humanitarian organizations in newly acceded EU member states, in (potential) EU candidate countries and in third countries that are recipients of the humanitarian aid of the European Union. Participants should be interested in becoming involved in international WatSan interventions or simply in raising their understanding of the sector. As the workshop is designed as induction course, no previous WatSan experience is required. Nevertheless the workshop is also eligible for persons with sound knowledge of WatSan who want to refresh or deepen their expertise and learn about new aspects from a different way of consideration.
