Training Description

Disaster psychology is a growing field of knowledge aiming at both understanding the psychosocial reactions of mass victims of natural or man-made disasters, and offering evidence-based relief interventions. This new knowledge will be extended here to cover humanitarian disasters - such as the 2004 tsunami, the recent China earthquake or Myanmar Cyclone and give relief workers the basics to help address the psychosocial needs of the victims, together with coping tools to manage their distress.

Intended Audience
This course is intended for humanitarian relief workers intervening in emergency operations, disaster mental health professionals, health and mental health professionals - nationally and internationally.
