I. HIGHLIGHTS/KEY PRIORITIES
- Levels of funding have improved - and 55% of requirements set out in the Pakistan Initial Floods Emergency Response Plan (PIFERP) are now covered - but with the emergency continuing to unfold in Sindh and Balochistan, significantly more donor support is needed.
- The United Nations Secretary-General called for a massive increase in levels of aid being provided before the General Assembly on 19 August; the General Assembly responded by adopting a consensus resolution urging increased international support.
- MCRAM assessments will get underway early next week; the outcome will inform the revision of the PIFERP next month.
