Gaza update: Muslim Aid and Interpal distribute $1 Million of medical supplies.

Following from the joint campaign, Muslim Aid and Interpal has been in contact with UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) regarding their support in the distribution of medicines inside Gaza.

At the present time, the medicines and water purification tablets are in Canada. The freight of the consignment has been confirmed and will be sent on Sunday 10th February. UNRWA will handle the transfer from airport to their warehouse in Gaza. Muslim Aid local partner Islamic Medical Union will collect the medicine and distribute it to local hospitals. Each hospital will provide full report and account of the implementation process.

Medical Supplies:

The market value of the medicine is around $1 million which has been spent on the following medicnes:

- 109,500 tablets of GlaxoSmithKline's Ciprofloxacin 250mg

- 102,000 tablets of GlaxoSmithKline's Doxycycline 100mg

- 70,200 tablets of GlaxoSmithKline's Mebendazole 100mg

- 480,000 tablets of GlaxoSmithKline's Metazole 250 mg

- 154,500 tablets of GlaxoSmithKline's Metazole 500 mg

- 2.1 million Water purification tablets, Aquatabs from Medentech.

Financial support:

Muslim Aid received proposals with quotations from local partners. Each partner will provide Muslim Aid with full reporting on how they intend to spend the funds by providing narrative and accounting reports, photos and footage of the implementation.

MA is in the process of transferring funds directly to local partners who will spend it on food parcels and lighting equipment. Muslim Aid sent =A364,000 and Interpal =A380,000

This amount can provide up to 2,500 food parcels and 2,000 gas lights. This means that around 16,000 people will benefit from this support.
