General Motors AutoWorld Indonesia handed over donation to West Sumatra disaster

Jakarta 28 October 2009, - Although the tragedy in Padang, West Sumatra has passed, it never stops getting people's attention. Now is the time for PT. General Motor AutoWorld Indonesia (GMAI), who distributes Chevrolet cars, donated One Hundred Million Rupiah for the disaster victims through Habitat for Humanity Indonesia.

"Our focus is helping the post-earthquake or rehabilitations and building reconstructions, so this is not too late," says Mersedes Tanok, HR/GA of GMAI, Wednesday.

According to Mersedes, GMAI didn't want to impose a support when many parties already supported on that relief phase. They believe if GMAI support the phase, the existing aid will be overloaded.

"You can see on TV, many aid and support were accumulated, and redundant. It will be much better if we give something that is useful for them in the future, not just a short couple days period help for them," she explain.

According to Tri, those houses will be built in V Koto Timur Sub District, Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra. The houses will be a permanent type which is better than emergency tends where occupied by the refugees at the moment.
