Angola: Agriculture Development Programme amounted at USD 400 mn

Luanda, 06/30 - The medium term Agriculture Development Programme for the 2009-2013 period, drafted by the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry (Minader) is amounted at more than USD 400 million, ANGOP learnt from the incumbent minister, Afonso Pedro Canga.

In an interview to ANGOP, last weekend in Luena City, eastern Moxico Province, the government official stated that the amount will be used for the implementation of projects from the national agriculture sector, as part of the Angolan government's public investment programme.. The minister informed also that for 2008, the government approved a credit of USD 270 million to support families in the agriculture sector with farming instruments. According to Afonso Pedro Canga, the amount of the agriculture sector does not yet satisfy every need, but he understands that the country is under reconstruction and there are other sectors of activity which also need financial resources. The minister added that the government is investing in Capanda Agro-industrial centre USD 370 million, while the private sector spend in it USD 700 million.
