Factbox - Security developments in Afghanistan, 03 Jun 2008

June 3 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1500 GMT on Tuesday:

EASTERN AFGHANISTAN - Two soldiers from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed and another soldier and an Afghan were wounded in eastern Afghanistan, ISAF said on Tuesday.

KHOST - A district intelligence chief was killed in a Taliban ambush on Tuesday in the southeastern province of Khost, officials and a Taliban spokesman said.

PAKTIA - An airstrike by foreign troops killed five Taliban insurgents overnight in an area of Paktia near the border with Pakistan, provincial officials said.

ZABUL - A guard of a road construction company was killed and three more wounded in a Taliban ambush in Zabul province in the south on Tuesday, an official said.

KANDAHAR - In neighbouring Kandahar, a car bomb aimed at a police convoy wounded a civilian.

HELMAND - U.S.-led coalition forces killed several militants with small arms fire and airstrikes in Garmsir district in the southern province of Helmand on Monday, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.

URUZGAN - Afghan and U.S.-led coalition forces killed several insurgents in the southern province of Uruzgan on Monday after the militants attacked a coalition base, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.
