I. WEATHER UPDATE

- Typhoon "PEPENG" is moving West slowly

- At 4:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon "PEPENG" was located based on satellite and surface data at 220 km North Northwest of Laoag City (20.1=B0N, 119.5=B0E) with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near its center and gustiness of up to 150 kph

- It is forecast to remain almost stationary and be at 260km North Northwest of Laoag City by tomorrow morning; 250 km Northwest of Laoag Ctiy by Wednesday morning; and, at 230km Northwest of Laoag City on Thursday morning

- Public Storm Warning Signal (PSWS) No. 3 remains hoisted over llocos Norte; PSWS NO.2 over the Batanes, Babuyan, and Calayan Groups of Islands; Northern Cagayan; Ilocos Sur, Abra, Kalinga and Apayao; and, PSWS No. 1 over the rest of Cagayan, La Union, Benguet, and Mountain Province.

- Residents in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes under signal no. 3, 2 and 1 are advised to take all the necessary precautionary measures against possible flashfloods and landslides

- Those living along the coast in areas under signal no. 2 and 3 are advised to be alert against big waves generated by the typhoon

II. SITUATIONAL REPORT

A. AFFECTED POPULATION

- From 01 to 03 October 12:00 NN, 35,486 families or 169,941 persons underwent pre-emptive evacuation in 15 provinces in Regions I, II, III IV-A, V and NCR and temporarily staying with relatives, friends and in 117 evacuation centers.

- A total of 39,895 families or 189,510 persons in 603 barangays in Regions I, II, III, IV-A, V, CAR and NCR were affected by TY "Pepeng". Of this, 14,790 families/ 66,246 persons are staying in 316 evacuation centers. (TABA).
