DR Congo/ORIENTALE PROVINCE: CIVILIANS KILLED IN LRA REBEL ATTACK

At least four civilians were killed and others abducted in an attack that sparked fear and desperation among inhabitants of Dungu, in the Orientale Province in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to MISNA missionary sources, the attack was carried out by six Ugandan rebels of the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army), accompanied by two Congolese, who they abducted some time ago. The attack, which took place last Wednesday but only reported recently due to the remoteness of the area, targeted the area between the village of Nagbende and the road that takes to Dungu. The LRA has carried out an increasing number of attacks over the past year in the Haut-Uele district, where Dungu is situated.
