IDPs demonstrations in Cundinamarca Department

100 persons arrived in the Municipality of Soacha

According to information provided by UNHCR, on 31 October nearly 100 IDPs arrived in the Municipality of Soacha –in the south-west of the capital city Bogotá– from the Municipality of Fusagasugá. IDPs -16 minors among them- are on their way to Bogotá demonstrating against the failure to implement a ruling (tutela) recognizing their right to assistance. IDPs received humanitarian assistance in Soacha from the Assistance and Guidance Unit for IDPs (UAO), the Government of Cundinamarca and the Catholic Church.

It is worth noting that Soacha is the municipality with the highest reception rate of IDPs in Cundinamarca Department after Bogotá, according to the official IDPs registry.

Civilian casualties and killings among indigenous communities in Cauca and Nariño departments

Five indigenous were killed in Nariño and six more were injured during an incursion of the FARC in the Municipality of Toribío (Cauca)

The Awá indigenous organization UNIPA reported that five Awá indigenous persons were killed by illegal armed actors in the village of La Guayacana in the rural area of Tumaco Municipality (Nariño Department), between 26 and 27 October. Victims were men between 16 and 92 years, members of the same family. UNIPA also expressed its concern with the worrisome situation found in the reservation of Piedra Verde, Municipality of Barbacoas where access restrictions have been reported. In this reservation, an undetermined number of people - women and children among them – were reported missing, and others were displaced. The communities that still remain are at high risk.
