Sri Lanka: Jaffna-Colombo bus service commences

The public transportation services in Jaffna commenced today with 175 passengers boarding four buses from Jaffna to Medawachchiya this morning, Governor of the Northern Province, Major General G.A. Chandrasiri said.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has initially deployed four buses with more buses to be added to the fleet shortly. A price of a one way ticket has been set at Rs. 475.

Additional transportation services are being introduced from Medawachchiya to Colombo for the convenient of the passengers.

The Government Agent of Jaffna, G.A. Ganesh said that the bus service will be expanded further and an uninterrupted daily bus service on the Jaffna -Medawachchiya route will be operated from tomorrow.

Another group of 200 passengers will arrive in Colombo from Jaffna tomorrow using this newly introduced bus service.
