OIC Secretary General holds bilateral talks with President of Guinea Bissau

The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, held bilateral talks with the President of Guinea Bissau, H.E. Malam Bacai Sanha, in Istanbul on November 8, 2009. The Secretary General expressed the satisfaction of the OIC for the reinforcement of Guinea Bissau of democracy, which will lead to stability and security, and conditions for sustainable socio-economic development.

The Secretary General invited the President to play a more active role in the activities of OIC through ratifying the OIC Charter and signing of the OIC economic agreements.

The President on his part promised to take appropriate action in this regard to make his country, which is a founding member of OIC, to be more involved in its activities.

The Secretary General asked the President of Guinea Bissau to bring his personal efforts to solve the situation in Guinea-Conakry within the context of supporting the mission assigned by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the President of Burkina Faso.
