Factbox - Security developments in Iraq, 01 Nov 2009


Nov 1 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 0930 GMT on Sunday.

* KERBALA - A bomb on a bus near a police checkpoint killed at least three people, including a policeman, and wounded 15 others in the Shi'ite Muslim holy city of Kerbala, 80 km (50 miles) southwest of Baghdad, police and health sources said.

MUSSAYAB - A bicycle loaded with explosives killed at least five people and wounded 37 at a popular market in the town of Mussayab, 60 km (40 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

RAMADI - A suicide car bomber and a suicide bomber wearing an explosives-laden belt killed two people and wounded four just west of the city of Ramadi, 100 km (60 miles) west of Baghdad, police Colonel Jabbar Ajaj said. Ajaj said he believed the suicide bombers were targeting a passing police patrol.

KIRKUK - Police said they found a man shot dead inside his car on Saturday in eastern Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad.
