Factbox - Security developments in Pakistan, 04 Oct 2009

Oct 4 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Pakistan at 0945 GMT on Sunday.

BUNER - Pakistani security forces launched a raid against Taliban insurgents in a village near the northwestern Swat Valley and killed six militants, the military said.

JAMRUD - Troops killed 11 militants, while four vehicles, including one laden with explosives, were destroyed in the Khyber Pass region on Saturday. One soldier was also killed, a paramilitary Frontier Corps spokesman said. The previous day, soldiers backed by helicopter gunships killed 27 militants in the same region, the spokesman said.

The Khyber Pass is the main route for supplies for Western forces going in to Afghanistan. Pakistani forces launched their latest operation to clear the region of militants last month.
