Egypt sends aid to Niger affected by floods

Egypt extended relief assistance to those affected by the flood that hit northern Niger's Agadez region recently, Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs ambassador Mona Omar said Friday 20/11/2009.

The Egyptian embassy in Niamey handed over the assistance to the head of the humanitarian aid department at the Nigerian Ministry of Religious Affairs and Humanitarian Action, Omar said.

She added that medical assistance will arrive in Niamey airport to be sent directly to the affected region.

The aid is offered upon directives from Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit within the framework of friendly ties between the two sides, she said.
