Adi-Tekelezan, 19 November 2009 - Micro-dams constructed in different parts of Adi-Tekelezan sub-zone are making commendable contribution in promoting vegetable farming, according to Mr. Kafl Mussa, Administrator of the sub-zone.
He explained that the micro-dams have already accumulated enough water in this year's rainy season, which in turn encouraged the farming community to engage in fruits and vegetable farming.
Mr. Kafl further indicated that the micro-dams in the administrative areas of Deki-Gebru, Golagul, Deki-Zeru, Wara, Embaderho and Adi-Tekelezan are facilitating the provision of reliable potable water supply to the local inhabitants along with their cattle, besides enriching underground water resource.
Various development activities focusing on the construction of embankments and terraces, as well as the planting of tree seedlings are also underway around the micro-dams so as to prevent them from being filled with silt, he added.
