Factbox - Security developments in Afghanistan, 21 Nov 2009


Nov 21 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1400 GMT on Saturday.

TAKHAR - Two children were killed and two more were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded near a passing police vehicle in northern Takhar province, said provincial police chief Ziauddin Mahmoodi.

KANDAHAR - Nineteen Taliban militants and one Afghan policeman were killed during a joint NATO-Afghan operation in Zhari district in southern Kandahar province on Friday, Kandahar police chief Sardar Mohammad Zazai said on Saturday.

The Taliban could not be immediatley reached for comment and Reuters was not able to independently verify the reports.
