Ethiopia: Zone constructing over 122 million Birr worth health facilities

Dessie, November 7, 2009 (Dessie) - The construction of health facilities launched in South Wollo Zone at a cost of over 122 million Birr is being speeded up, the Zonal Health Department said.

An official with the department, Mohamoud Yasin told ENA on Saturday that the construction of some 82 health stations and 76 health posts was launched last July jointly by the government and the public.

He said the construction of some nine of the health posts has already been completed.

Upon going fully operational by the end of this Ethiopian year the health facilities are expected to render service to 380,000 people in the Zone. They would also reach the Zonal health coverage to hundred percent.

Three hospitals, 430 health stations and health posts are providing service in the Zone.
