Health System of Daikundi Province improves substantially


Dr. SMA Fatimie and a delegation form Kabul visited Daikundi province to inaugurate important health projects in the province. Addressing a gathering organized by the officials of the province, Dr. Fatimie said that Afghan Governement, especially HE president Hamed Karzai, had special attention to the underserved, newly established province of Daikundi; He added that MoPH stressed on improving access to a quality of health care system in Daikunid province.

At first Dr. Fatimie officially inaugurated vaccine store facility of Daikunid. The facility has 9 rooms and could stre 500,000 doses of different vaccines.

The facility is constructed and equipped with a $120,000 budget provided by GAVI, UNICEF and WHO.

Then Dr.Fatimie laid down the corner stone of a 100 bed hospital, which will be completed in two years time. The hospital has 12 blocks and total budget is $3.7m which is provided by the European Commission.

Dr. Fatimie also inaugurated a center for the training of community Midwives. The project is very important for reducing maternal deaths in the province. Currnetly 16 midwives are studying at the center.

Dr. Fatimie and Governor of Daikundi also opened a SNIDs with droping polio vaccine into mouth of children.

Finally Dr. Fatimie officially inaugurated a center for the treatment of drug addicts. The center has treated 250 drug abusers so far.
