Sudan: Ki Moon renews call for return of expelled NGOs

United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, has renewed his call for the Sudanese government to cancel the expulsion of international NGO's from Darfur.

Ki Moon said in a press conference that he urged some Arab and African leaders to exert influence on President Al Bashir to revoke his decision.

The UN official said a joint report by the UN and the Sudan Government reflected a huge gap in the provision of humanitarian aid to the affected people in Darfur.

The Sudanese government maintains that the 13 expulsed NGOs will not be allowed back to Darfur as they are accused of collaborating with the International Criminal Court.

The government has said that efforts to release the two aid workers abducted in Darfur are continuing.

Ali Yusif, director of protocols department as the ministry for Foreign Affairs told Miraya FM that the Sudanese government, the French embassy and the French Medical Aid Organization are engaged in intensive talks with abductors.

Earlier, a group who identified themselves as 'ahrar ifrikiya' or LIBERALS OF AFRICA were responsible for the kidnap of two employees of the French Medical Aid International, in Al-Fursan area in West Darfur. They demanded a ransom of two-million U.S. dollars to release the hostages.
