I. HIGHLIGHTS/KEY PRIORITIES

- On 9 March, the Emergency Relief Coordinator called on all parties to conflict in Libya to protect civilians from harm. This followed reports of heavy fighting and bombardments in western Libya resulting in injuries and deaths.

- The newly appointed UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Libya, Mr. Rashid Khalikov, has arrived in the region.

- IOM and UNHCR report that 246,336 people have left Libya since the crisis began.

- A total of US$100.4 million has been contributed and $10.5 million pledged from donors.

- Access to Libya, particularly the west, to review the humanitarian situation is critical.

- The mass evacuation of Egyptian nationals stranded in Tunisia was completed on 6 March.
