Some 2,827,520 sq m. area demined in Azerbaijan in October

Some 2,827,520 sq. m. of area was cleared from mines and unexploded ammunition in October, 2009.

The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Actions (ANAMA) revealed and detonated 16,248 unexploded ammunition and mines in this territory, the ANAMA told Trend News.

Some 425 specialists, 115 assistant staff, 5 mechanized mine clearing cars and 30 mine detector dogs took part in it.

So far, 115, 803, 002 sq. m. of area was demined and 504,396 unexploded ammunitions were detonated.

The ANAMA carries out demining in Tartar, Agdam, Fuzuli, Agstafa and Tovuz regions of Azerbaijan and in Garadagh region of Baku.

In October, no case of mine/unexploded ammunition was fixed.
