Security Council press statement on United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia

The following Security Council press statement on the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia was read out today by Council President Baki İlkin (Turkey):

The Security Council welcomes the briefing by Miroslav Jenca, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, on the activities of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia over the past six months.

The Security Council appreciates the efforts of the Regional Centre in addressing regional issues of common concern through implementation of its mandate and in consultation and cooperation with the Central Asian countries and regional organizations.

The Security Council reaffirms its support to the efforts of the Regional Centre to facilitate dialogue and assist the Governments of Central Asia in addressing multiple challenges facing the region.
