FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, Aug 12

Aug 12 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1215 GMT on Thursday.

MOSUL - Gunmen opened fire at an Iraqi army checkpoint, killing one soldier and wounding another, in western Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAAJ - A car bomb exploded and wounded four people on Wednesday when a bomb disposal team tried to defuse it in Baaj, 375 km (235 miles) northwest of Baghdad, police said.

GARMA - Gunmen opened fire at an Iraqi police checkpoint on Wednesday, killing one policeman and wounding five other people, including two policemen, in central Garma, 30 km (20 miles) northwest of Baghdad, police said.
