Cold front to bring snow and rain to northeastern, southern China


BEIJING, Nov 14, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Due to another cold front, most parts of South China and the eastern part of Northeast China will be swept by rain and snow in the next three days, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said Saturday.

According to the forecast, Xinjiang, Tibet, Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan, Shandong, Yunnan and regions along the Yellow and Yangtze rivers will see snow, rain, or a mix of snow and rain from Sunday to Tuesday.

Among these regions, parts of Jiangsu, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi and Heilongjiang provinces will be hit by heavy snow or even blizzard. Parts of Jiangxi and Guangdong will see heavy rain, said the NMC.

The NMC also said Anhui, Hubei and parts of Hunan, Jiangsu and Jiangxi provinces will see the first snowfall or a mix of rain and snow this winter.

Last week, heavy snow hit northern and central Chinese provinces, including Hebei, Shanxi, Henan, Shandong, Hubei and Shaanxi, and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. More than 20 people had died so far.
