Pakistan: Affectees deprived of Watan Cards: Wazir M.Wali Afridi

PESHAWAR: Provincial leader of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Ajmal Wazir on Tuesday blamed the ANP-led government of not distributing the Watan Cards and relief goods among the flood-victims of D.I Khan. He said some 86 thousands Watan Cards were due to distribute among the flood-victims in different Union Councils of D.I Khan, the provincial government has distributed only 56 thousands Watan Cards among the flood-victims while the remaining 30 thousands were rejected by NADRA due to some reasons. He, on the occasion, blamed City-2 MPA of D.I Khan for not distributing the Watan Cards among the deserved one, adding that the committee constituted for the purpose of filling Watan cards was comprise of his blue eyed persons and the committee members favoured those who were near and dear to them in all Union Councils (UCs). He maintained that the names of those flood-victims who were the workers of others political parties have been excluded from the lists by the committees. Besides Watan Cards, he said, the relief items were not properly distributed in the flood-hit Union Councils of D.I Khan. He added that the relief goods for flood-affectees have been stored in the homes of political leaders which would be used as a "bonus card" for the upcoming elections. The project of Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC), he said, was delayed due to the fight between two political groups over its tender for a long time and at last the project was handed over to the company owned by PPP MPA Samiullah Alizai. He maintained if it was completed on the right time, there would be less loss to the formers as majority of crops was destroyed due to delay of CRBC project. He said 70 millions rupees were released in the times of by-elections for the development projects in different UCs, adding that no one knows about the money where it was spent on. He urged Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to investigate about the huge amount. He urged Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo moto actions against the distribution of Watan Cards and relief goods on the basis of political approach and make an investigative team to probe the CRBC project.
