Afghanistan: 7 new development projects started in Urozgan Province


The Minister for Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Mr. Ehsan Zia signed 7 development projects in the province of Urozgan today 29th January 2009.

The projects include 3 intakes, 2 retaining wall with 2011 M length, 1500 M roads and construction of a 60 M motor able bridge at cost of more then 2 million USD.

The projects will be completed in 3 to 4 months benefiting 72 thousands people in Trinkot area at Urozgan.

20/000 working days will be generated through the implementing of the above projects will also provide irrigation facilities, protection house from contingent floods and provides transport facilities for the people of Trinkot.

Additional to the above, The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development have implemented more then 185 development projects with a cost of 17 million USD in the districts at Chara, Dehrahad, Khas Urozgan and Trinkot of which 72 projects have been completed and the work of the remaining projects are ongoing/

All the above mentioning projects have been requested by the people that indicated the people desire to the reconstruction process.
