The Water Scarcity Emergency Response Strategy Framework has, so far, been very successful in its implementation this year. Drawing on the lessons of previous years, the operation has become more efficient and harmonised. This framework can now be consolidated by outlining the process that will be used for future Water Scarcity Emergency Responses.
This framework also complements the forthcoming formation of a Water Scarcity Task Force, which will aim to monitor the indices of drought, reduce the long-term vulnerabilities and the demand for the humanitarian intervention. Yet some emergency response will likely be required in future water scarcity periods and this framework constitutes the structure which will be followed.
