In its continued efforts to provide assistance to the suffering people of Gaza, LIFE for Relief and Development has worked on certain special needs cases to help individuals enduring extraordinary hardship.

In cooperation with the UAE Red Crescent Society, LIFE came to the aid of young Waseem Nabil Sukkar, a Palestinian boy is physically disabled and also mentally challenged.

Upon review of his case file by LIFE's staff, Waseem received a brand new wheelchair to facilitate his mobility, as well as a therapeutic mattress, bedding, medicine, diapers, and a one year supply of food.

This assistance has relieved Waseem's family of a great burden, as they have six other children to care for and do not have the means to provide for a special-needs child under the current circumstances in Gaza.

In another instance, LIFE and the UAE Red Crescent responded to a request for help from Fulla Hasani and her family. Fulla's family was homeless and living in a cramped apartment that was donated by the landlord. However the apartment was very small, and there were no windows or air ventilation, which made it uncomfortable to live in, and which posed serious health hazards for her and her children.

To help Fulla and her family, an apartment in a new high-rise building was found for them, and one year's worth of rent was paid on their behalf.

The apartment is large, clean, and has a balcony with a very nice view of the Mediterranean Sea, which is only about 200 meters away.

In addition to the apartment, Fulla received an abundance of food, blankets, and other items to further improve her situation and allow her to focus on raising her family.
