HIGH LIGHTS
- On 30 September 2009, a strong earthquake registering 7.6 Richter scale, depth 71 km under the sea level southwest Pariaman, struck off the coast of Padang in West Sumatra at 17:16 pm local time, and followed by aftershock 6.2 RS.

- Tsunami warning issued, but then withdrawn.
- Data from the Crisis Center- MoH reported 390 dead, and 88 people injured, while thousands missing
While local agency for disaster management (Satkorlak) reported 478 death casualties
- 2,650 buildings are damaged and followed by fires.
- Accessibility to affected area was disrupted. Communication & electricity powers are cut-off.
- Minangkabau International Airport and Tabing Airport are now functioning well
- EHA-WHO and Crisis Center MOH, deployed 196 health professional with medical supplies to the site today for Rapid Health Assessment.
- Regional Crisis Center of Medan, North Sumatra, Provincial Health Office and District Health Office in close collaboration with WHO Indonesia, send health teams and provided integrated Emergency Health Services according to Standard Operating Procedures.
