Sudan: Calm returns to Akobo after recent tribal clashes


Deputy Governor of Jonglei State, Hussein Mar Nyot, affirmed that calm has returned to Akobo County following recent tribal clashes which killed four people and wounded one woman. However, Mar Nyot told Miraya FM that citizens in the area are facing shortage of water. He called on humanitarian organizations to provide immediate assistance. Earlier, State's Minister of Information, Timothy Taban Juck, told Miraya FM that poor roads conditions caused a hike in food prices, especially sorghum. Further, describing the humanitarian situation in the area as bad. Mr. Mar , said the security situation is stable and the people are still afraid. There is no water and people are collecting it from the river, under fear of new attacks. There is nothing new. We as government call upon the humanitarian organizations to provide assistance to the affected people.
