Sri Lanka: Emergency aid provision to conflict IDPs in Sri Lanka


This 4-month project will be implemented in camps hosting IDPs who fled the conflict area in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka in 2009. The project is expected to be implemented in Manik Farm in Vavuniya district and in Transit centres in Vavuniya/Chedikulam town. It aims at improving the overall health of 25,000 to 30,000 IDPs in Sri Lanka through the delivery of 176,000 litres of drinking water per day; the organisation of 25 hygiene trainings; the distribution of 4,000 hygiene kits, of 2,000 10-litre jerry cans, of 1,000 baby kits, of 500 toilet cleaning kits, of 1,000 potties and of 1,000 waste bins; and the disposal of 9 tons of solid waste per day and of 84,000 litres of septic/kitchen sewage per day.
