FINANCE MANAGER - Gaza

£26,586 - £29,052 per annum (plus accommodation and per diem)
Fixed term, 8 months initially

MAG has been present in Gaza since January 2009, responding to the urgent need for UXO assessment, survey and clearance following the cessation of the conflict. Working as an implementing partner of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), the project aim is to reduce the risk of UXO accidents during the rehabilitation and reconstruction phases in the post conflict environment.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Finance Manager in Gaza, to assume overall responsibility for comprehensive Donor/Project files, ensuring that all paperwork related to proposals, budgets, contracts, financial and operational correspondence and reports is present and correct. The Finance Manager also will monitor and control current expenditure to ensure that it stays within available funding and agreed budgets and highlight, as appropriate, under / over spends and agree actions required. The Finance Manager will be responsible for in-country cash flow requirements and will submit monthly funds requests to MAG HQ, ensuring that donor funds are tracked and that cash balances held in country are kept to a minimum.

Robust and efficient Financial Management is essential to the implementation of MAG’s life sustaining work. This is a great opportunity to contribute to MAG’s humanitarian aims and improve the lives of local communities worldwide. We are interested to hear to hear from you if you:
• Are a fully qualified accountant with prior experience in a similar role.
• Are able to demonstrate an ability to report in a timely and accurate manner;
• Possess management skills to deal with a large team and a myriad of tasks
• Have an outgoing personality with excellent communication and training skills
• Are a good team player, flexible and capable of working with an international country team
• Possess an awareness of personal security, cultural sensitivity and a diplomatic manner.

You will need previous experience of working in a similar role, preferably within the region. In addition the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to work independently, be managed from a distance and build excellent working relationships with project stakeholders.

The post holder will be based at MAG’s offices in Gaza, with some travel to Israel. We are initially able to offer a 8 month contract that will be extended subject to funding.
