Location: Somalia - Kismaayo

Opportunity:

Due to exceptional growth, a leading shipping firm in the Arabian Gulf and East Africa is seeking an experienced Shipping Coordinator. This individual is responsible for assisting with and coordinating the movement of merchandise and/or material in/out of country in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This firm will provide high level and executive training to the right candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist with the preparation and processing of all documents and transactions related to the domestic and international movement of goods on behalf of our client, its associates and customers; including Letters of Credit, Performance bonds etc.
- The shipping coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all client logistical activities including courier service.
- Assist with managing and coordinating the drop shipment of goods from various sites both in the United Emirates and Europe.
- Assist manager by communicating with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling and delivery processes.
- Assist with progress chasing and reporting to Management on shipment status as required.
- Assist with handling compliance with legal and governmental regulations in all areas of international logistics.
- Assist with all supply chain activities and compliance with all local port authorities and related procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

- Has an overall understanding of the shipping industry and the related work environment and process, with a working knowledge of the organization and an intermediate level of technical skills required to complete assignments
- Working knowledge of livestock is a plus
- Experience working with the UAE or Gulf countries is a plus
- Experience with import/export is a plus
- Experience with inventory and supply chain is important
- Must be able to read some Arabic to communicate with UAE/Gulf counterparts
- Must speak Somali and be able to communicate in English
- Must live in Somalia and be able to travel freely
- Must be able to develop new relationships with local population
- Must have a working knowledge of the shipping industry
- Must be trainable
- Must understand the Internet

Education and Experience

- High School Education; some college
- European or U.S. education is a big plus
- Ability to utilize Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software and Internet software
