(CLOSED) Area Coordinator

Closing date: 20 Dec 2009 -- (CLOSED)
Location: Zimbabwe - Harare

Based in Harare.
To start: February 2010
Contract 3 months to 2 years

Tearfund is initiating a new programme in Zimbabwe, and an exciting opportunity exists for an experienced manager to oversee the day-to-day project activities and teams. The successful candidate will have relevant relief experience plus proven management and leadership skills, coupled with experience in project cycle management, financial management, logistics, and strategic planning. Responsibilities include needs assessment and project design, the day-to-day management of projects and their support functions, and donor proposal and reporting. As Tearfund develops the programme in Zimbabwe the role will include setting up the projects, team building, and donor liaison, and therefore the incumbent will need to possess the ability to drive and develop a programme. Experience in Tearfund’s core sectors of Watsan, Food Security and basic infrastructure construction would be desirable. Excellent written and spoken English is essential for the role.

The candidate must also be able to work in potentially insecure environments, without direct supervision, to tight timeframes. Applicants must be committed to Tearfund's evangelical Christian beliefs. All posts involve potential contact with children and the recruitment process will include specific checks related to child protection issues.
