Base Manager – South Sudan
£24,475 - £26,745 per annum (plus accommodation, per diem & £2,000 per annum hardship allowance)

At MAG (Mines Advisory Group), we deliver practical and positive solutions that assist the process of peace and stability in both conflict and former conflict countries. During the past 19 years we have safely found, removed and destroyed millions of landmines, small and large bombs, missiles and other tools of armed conflict. By freeing up millions of acres of land we are the precursor to the development and economic growth of conflict-affected countries throughout the Middle East, South East Asia and Africa.

MAG has been working in South Sudan since 1998, and currently has humanitarian mine action projects operating out of the towns of Yei, Juba, and Kapoeta in the South.

We are currently recruiting a Base Manager to support operations in Kapoeta.

As a Base Manager you will be responsible for the management of MAG’s operational bases, including logistics, finance, administration, community/governmental relations. As well as monitoring the security situation in the base location and areas of operations ensuring that operations teams and programme SMT are kept informed of security risks and developments. Further responsibilities include, developing and implementing appropriate new management, administrative and logistical support systems and procedures in coordination with the Project Manager (PM), overseeing and supervising all base support staff including responsibility for their recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation.

You will need experience of working overseas in international aid or development including expertise in logistics, administration and finance, capacity building and management of national staff and monitoring and evaluation. You should have the ability to work within complicated national and international political frameworks, have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate diplomacy and experience of building and developing management systems to improve programme accountability.

The starting salary for this role is £24,475 plus £2,000 per annum hardship allowance and per diem.
