(CLOSED) Assistant Protection Officer (National Officer, Category A)

Closing date: 11 Dec 2009 -- (CLOSED)
Location: Philippines (the) - Manila

Duties and responsibilities

1. Assists in assessments and monitoring of the protection situation of the natural disasters affected population through interviews, correspondences, etc.. in coordination with the protection cluster,
2. Follow up with local authorities on protection issues as appropriate,
3. Assists in analyzing and assessing protection issues and ensuring adherence to SOPs, IASC guidelines and other international standards,
4. Supports training and other capacity buildings efforts, including research.
5. Maintains close contacts with local authorities and NGOs as well as with members of the protection cluster and other clusters,
6. Manage the information flow of the protection cluster
7. Keeps abreast of developments in the field of jurisprudence, legislation and regulations,
8. Provides protection inputs into various reports including funding appeals,
9. Undertakes field visits as required
10. Prepares reports, correspondence and statistics as required
11. May be required to supervise and coordinate the work of lower level staff
12. Undertakes any duty as required.

Requirements
- University degree in Law, International law, political science or related Field.
- 2 Years of previous Job Experience, 2 years of relevant Job experience,.
- Excellent spoken and written English & Tagalog skills.
- Communication Skills
- Computer Skills
