(CLOSED) Assistant Programme Officer (National Officer, Category A)

Closing date: 11 Dec 2009 -- (CLOSED)
Location: Philippines (the) - Manila

Duties and responsibilities

1. Assesses the general social conditions of persons affected by natural disasters for social services and protection assistance in particular to vulnerable cases.
2. Undertakes research and assessment of community resources and available service and capacities for planning and implementation of protection assistance projects.
3. Ensures that proper coordination is maintained with Protection cluster members, members of other clusters and officials of relevant institutions involved in planning and implementation of assistance to individuals affected persons.
4. Assists the community to identify their own needs, to establish priorities and to meet these needs through developing self-reliance.
5. Assists in the formulation of project proposals based on the results of evaluations carried out in the field and in coordination with the protection cluster.
6. Collects, registers reports and maintain information on project activities by reviewing reports and undertaking discussions with implementing partners and members of the various clusters.
7. Contacts National & Local Government and implementing partners as well as other clusters, and assesses programme implementation and other related matters.
8. Assists in monitoring assistance programme ensuring proper implementation.
9. Assists in the preparation of projects/programme reports, activities and budget requirements for the planning of the country operations plan and submission to headquarters as well as UN coordinated local appeals, arranges for the transfer of funds as necessary.
10. Carries out specific administrative operations control task for projects/programme activities
11. Undertakes field visits as required
12. Prepares correspondence and statistics as required
13. May be required to supervise and coordinate the work of lower level staff
14. Undertakes any duty as required.

Requirements
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Social Science or related Field.
- 2 Years of previous Job Experience, 2 years of relevant Job experience.
- Excellent spoken and written English & Tagalog skills.
- Good Communication Skills
- Advanced Computer Skills
- Ability to command people soft applications.
- Prior experience in counselling and/or individual case management.
