Rationale:
Developing tools and systems for supporting the implementation of disaster risk reduction (DRR) is an important area of work of the Disaster Management Systems Team of ADPC.
The primary objective of such area of work is to conceptualize and help in developing specific tools and systems (in this case the database) which would increase regional cooperation on DRR.
Description of services:
The scope of the services of the consultant would include the following
- Conceptualizing the structure of the online database along with the ADPC team
- Designing the database (data collection template and data display template)
- Work closely with the GIS specialist in the ADPC team in designing the visual representation of the database
- Upload the database on the identified website and test
- A user manual on usage of the database
- Conduct an orientation training on the use of the database
Outputs:
The consultant would be expected to develop the following outputs:
- Online database (conceptualise, design, upload, pilot run and finalize)
- Users manual
- Deliver orientation training on using the database
Qualification and Expertise:
1) Educational background; post graduate or equivalent degree in Information Technology, database management or related subjects
2) Professional background in system design preferably in disaster risk reduction or in the development sector
3) Experience in developing databases and its management preferably in the development sector
4) Experience in visualization of data
5) Good written and spoken English
