ZIMBABWE: PROGRAMME DIRECTOR
Based in: Harare, Zimbabwe
To start: January 2010
Contract: 3 months to 2 years

Tearfund is initiating a new programme in Zimbabwe and an exciting opportunity exists for an experienced senior manager and leader to head our operational programme in Harare. With proven experience of relief work and strategic programme management, and project design, you will lead the development, and implementation of the programme in accordance with Tearfund’s policy and strategy.

You will have responsibility for setting up the programme in Zimbabwe, overseeing the office set up and recruitment, and the necessary Government permissions. As Programme Director you will develop the programme strategy and lead a senior management team responsible for project implementation, logistics, finance and human resources. Strong experience is required in people management, budget management, donor relations, donor proposal development and reporting, and compliance to corporate and donor systems. You will also be responsible for representing Tearfund and liasing with Government departments, UN bodies, other INGOs and local Partners.

The post requires regular travel to field sites. Applicants will be educated to degree level and must have substantive up-to-date working knowledge of relief environments. Proven experience in security management is required. You will be an excellent leader with strong organisational and people management, negotiation and representation skills. Excellent written and spoken English is essential.

All posts involve potential contact with children and the recruitment process will include specific checks related to child protection issues.

Salary: £33,607 plus competitive benefits package
