International Centre for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) - Kenya of Columbia University is working with NASCOP to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services at provincial, district and health centre facilities. This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Job Summary
To plan and implement the day-to-day activities for the implementation of diagnosis of HIV in infants and their subsequent care and treatment at ICAP sites, in collaboration with the National STI and AIDS Control program (NASCOP) of the Ministry of Health.
Key Responsibilities
- To oversee the planning, initiation and implementation of EID activities in ICAP supported care and treatment sites.
- To provide on-site training on Early Infant Diagnosis and dry blood spot (DBS) techniques to health care workers
- To help develop and supervise the logistics of Early Infant Diagnosis (specimen transportation and the return of reports)
- To coordinate procurement of equipment and consumables necessary for Early Infant Diagnosis
- To assist sites to develop proper systems for the follow up of HIV-exposed infants
- To assist in the development and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation systems of Early Infant Diagnosis
- To assist with on-site training of nurses on nursing aspects of pediatric HIV care and treatment including counseling, infant feeding and growth monitoring
- To assist PMTCT service providers in improving service delivery and encouraging the formation of PMTCT support groups to support and encourage mothers to bring infants for diagnosis and follow-up.
- To liaise with community and home based care programs to improve support systems for HIV-exposed infants through creating awareness, providing support to the families, tracing defaulters and reducing stigma and discrimination.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma in Nursing or equivalent plus additional training in PMTCT
- Experience in HIV Programming at health facility level
