(CLOSED) Legal Intern

Location: Switzerland - Geneva

International Disaster Response Law, Rules and Principles Programme

Legal Intern – Spring 2010, 1 full-time or 2 half-time positions available

Duration: January – June 2010
Stipend: 75 CHF per full day worked
Location: International Federation Secretariat, Geneva

Key tasks:

Legal research
- Perform research online, in Geneva libraries, and through the Federation’s practitioner and academic networks as needed in support of Programme products, projects and articles. The intern will also be expected to produce one publication-quality article for the Disaster Law Working Paper series.

Elaboration of legal database and outreach products
- Collect and register legal documents for online legal and bibliographic databases and assist in developing and updating dissemination products

Conference organization
- Assist IDRL Programme staff in organizing legal workshops and other meetings
- IDRL news service and newsletter
- Assist in the preparation of the weekly IDRL news service and bi-monthly newsletter
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

- Completed university degree in law
- Advanced study in international or comparative law at the masters level
- Familiarity with online research and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Experience with or knowledge of the Federation or other international organisations desirable
- Fluency in spoken and written English required
- Fluency in Arabic, Russian, French or Spanish desirable
