International Rescue Committee (IRC)
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the largest humanitarian agencies in the world, providing relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict reconstruction support to victims of oppression and violent conflict. IRC has worked for over seven decades and today is involved in over 25 conflict zones in the world. We address both the immediate, life saving needs of conflict affected people in an emergency and the reconstruction needs in post conflict societies.

The Grants Volunteer supports Grants Department functions by assisting with the production of timely, quality reports, proposals, and information products. To this end, the Grants Volunteer reviews and edits draft reports prepared by Program Managers or Coordinators and works with country program staff to finalize these and other documents. The development of visibility materials, including success stories and multimedia presentations, as well as the translation of program-related documents between English and French will enable the Grants Volunteer to contribute to the effective flow of information about IRC programs in CAR.

The Grants Volunteer has a key role to play in a challenging and developing program made up of 17 expatriates, 140 national staff spread among 2 field sites (a third to come) and a country office implementing a large scope of activities with a large variety of donors (UNs, UE, Foundations. . .)

Responsibilities:
  • Quickly become familiar with IRC Program Framework, CAR strategic plan, program portfolio, operations, environment, and logical frameworks to support the tracking of appropriate program data through donor reports;
  • Work with the Grants Manager and Program staff to ensure the timely submission of high quality reports for all projects;
  • Support the Country Director and Grants Manager in the planning, coordination, proofing, and timely submission of quality proposals, concept notes, etc;
  • Compile internal monthly reports with input from Field Coordinators, Finance,
  • Logistics, HR/Admin then distribute to the Country Program, Regional Unit, and Technical Advisors;
  • Provide support to program staff by developing documents, systems, tools, training sessions, translation services, etc. that contribute to quality programming;
  • Ensure proper documentation of activities performed under the above tasks and of results achieved;
  • Accompany project staff on field visits to become familiar with the projects and to contribute to quality reports and information products;
  • Contribute to the content of IRC information tools, such as the country factsheet, country/regional narratives, activity maps, and postings to the inter-agency website (HDPT CAR);
  • Regularly update and distribute the orientation package for new staff arrivals;
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the hard and soft copy Grants libraries in Bangui

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Superb written English skills and proficiency in written and spoken French;
  • Excellent computer skills and competency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to determine priorities and meet multiple deadlines;
  • Detail-oriented with good multi-tasking abilities and communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Able to work well both within a team and independently, in a challenging and fast-moving multicultural environment;
  • Willingness to travel to and live in the field;
  • University degree in International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field required
