(CLOSED) Educational Program Implementation Manager

One Laptop per Child (OLPC)
The mission of One Laptop per Child (OLPC) is to empower the children of developing countries to learn by providing one connected laptop to every school-age child. In order to accomplish our goal, we need people who believe in what we’re doing and want to help make education for the world’s children a priority, not a privilege.

OLPC is now seeking a Manager, Educational Program Implementation to help conceive of and implement worldwide innovative education strategies, as well as expand existing projects in the Middle East. Our work is research in practice. Key factors in this position are supporting collaborations with host countries for design of distributions, trainings, evaluations, and community involvement in the project from day one. Our goal is to support opportunities, abilities, and responsibilities of individual learners and learning communities in the Middle East.

The Manager, Educational Program Implementation will:

1. Assist in design and implementation of teacher, student, and administrator workshop trainings in basic XO laptop use, XO software activity use; creation of e-learning modules; and project-based learning programs;
2. Research on educational theory, practice, and policy;
3. Demonstrate technology & learning activities for community members and stakeholders; and learners;
4. Provide support for the OLPC Middle East Team during strategic planning meetings with collaborators and stakeholders in the field; and
5. Organize and facilitate learning networks via project-based community activities and focused learning groups in distribution countries.

Qualifications:

M.S. in Education with one or more of the following areas of expertise: Educational Technologies, Teacher Education, Human Development and Psychology, Language and Literacy, and/or Informal and Community Educational Design.

1. Experience working in either formal or informal educational settings with children in grades 1-6 a must;
2. Knowledge educational assessment design and tools;
3. Passionate commitment to the cause of quality universal primary school education and utilizing laptops to help achieve that goal;
4. Knowledge of primary education practices and educational theories;
5. Experience in working with children and computers particularly for an international audience;
6. Proven track-record in administrative matters, including the development of comprehensive partnerships and implementation of innovative programs;
7. Excellent written and oral communications, as well as management skills;
8. Experience in working with people from a broad array of countries and cultures;
9. Fluency in English and Arabic required. French is also desirable; and
10. Willingness to travel as much as 25% time.
