(CLOSED) Coordinator, SPRINT Africa Initiative

We are a leading non-governmental organization working in SRHR in 182 countries, and have six regional offices on five continents. The IPPF Africa Region (IPPFAR) consists of a network of Member Associations in 42 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

SPRINT (Sexual and Reproductive Health PRogramme IN Crises and PosT–Crisis Situations in Africa) is an inter-agency initiative (UNFPA, UNHCR, IPPF) that aims to mainstream SRH into national emergency preparedness plans and responses through capacity building, policy change and humanitarian interventions.

We are seeking a Programme Coordinator to be based at our Africa Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya (6-month initial contract, renewable).

The Coordinator will be responsible for setting up and managing the Secretariat of the SPRINT at IPPF Africa Regional Office. She/he will be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the SPRINT Project Activities as per established work plan and timeline.

The Coordinator will work closely with the SPRINT Inter-Agency Steering Committee, UNFPA Regional Humanitarian Coordinators and IPPF Emergency Response Advisors.

Qualifications: We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in management of SRH projects and training programmes. The Coordinator should have a relevant post-graduate degree, preferably in Public Health, Demography or Population Studies, with at least 5 years of work experience especially in the humanitarian field. The candidate is committed to humanitarian and development issues and has a demonstrated track record of working collaboratively in a team-oriented, highly demanding and multicultural environment.

Starting date: as soon as possible (latest by mid-January 2010).
Language requirements: Fluency in English, French is desirable.
Salary range: USD 4,000-5,500 per month.
