ARD, Inc. (www.ardinc.com) is accepting expressions of interest from experienced Chief of Party/Deputy Chief of Party candidates on an anticipated USAID-funded Agricultural Development Project in the DRC.
The COP/DCOP will provide overall leadership for managing the programmatic, administrative, financial, and logistical aspects of the project. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
- Masters or other advanced degree in a relevant field (Agricultural Economics, Masters of Business Administration, Development Economics, etc.)
- Prior COP /Team Leader or Deputy COP (DCOP) experience, preferably with USAID-funded agribusiness programs in the region.
- Minimum of 10 years experience managing USAID and/or other donor funded projects with at least 5 years in senior management level positions in developing countries.
- Prior experience in-country required. Additional experience in the region is highly desirable.
- Substantial experience in at least one of the following areas of technical expertise:
- Value chain development for major agricultural products/staple crops (ex. cassava and maize)
- Production, post-harvest handling, agri-processing and agribusiness marketing
- Rural savings and credit and agricultural financing
- Development and capacity building of producer organizations and groups
- Development and support of agricultural extension services
- Market and supply chain analysis and commodity action plan development
- Demonstrated ability to manage, negotiate and coordinate with consortium partners, sub-contractors, and multi-disciplinary short term and long term technical assistance teams under complex organizational arrangements.
- Track record of successful cooperation with host country governments, international donors and USAID missions: superior diplomatic and relationship management skills.
- Proven project and program management experience and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to develop and work within approved work plans and meet goals within agreed timeframes.
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience managing the administrative, contracting, staff recruitment, financial, and logistical aspects of an overseas field office.
- Fluency in English and French required.
